Officially, no recent statements can be found. A handful of local CAS news stations, however, have video footage of the plane, that crashed a few days ago. Taken from the news helicopter, a video feed shows people leaving the plane, which crashed about 10 miles from the gate in the south. No IDs have been taken, so it's impossible to determine any survivors, other than visual identification.
On the shadow-side however, a fair amount of leads can be found online. Though most of the traces are spoofed and encrypted beyond the sprites reach, it's very obvious that there is a fair amount of shadow-traffic coming from and going to the Zone.

Within the last year, 10 planes have been reported to crash within the restricted area. While 8 of them have been smaller airlines, transporting passengers from coast to coast, two planes seem to be of special interest.
The first one is a cargo plane from NeoNET, that wasn't even supposed to fly over that sector. Officially, the cargo was cutting edge computer systems, bulks of electronics for the seattle market and so on. But something with the official cargo report wasn't right. The sprite broke an encryption, that showed that the cargo report was spoofed. Though, what was really on the plane never got reported, thus it's impossible to determine the cargo.
The second one is the most recent crash of public flight JPN-00A14. The autopilot changed it's course shortly after take off and was headed east instead of west. Official speculations go from malfunctions in the pilot system, to air-piracy.
The sprite went over the passenger list and found a dozen spoofed IDs. One of them is marked with another file, Nadja.info.

The passenger Nadja Dyalov is a spoofed ID, which left a resonance trace in the system. The sprite identified Nadja as Technomancer and tried to follow her trace to gather more input as he determined the information valuable within his search. Though the trace faded within the matrix, the sprite was able to capture and decrypt one message, copied into the a file named after the sender of the original message, Satou.msg
